Coaching Info & Requirements
Applying to be a Coach
Coaches are a key to running our organization! DPYH is always looking for volunteers that are interested in helping develop youth hockey players for the organization. To get started, please fill use the link to complete the coaching application. This application indicates to the coaching selection group (Director of Hockey/ACE and Operations Committee) that you are interested in a coaching position and at which age levels.
Note: All coaches must fill out an application each season in order to be considered for a coaching position.
Coaching Requirements
Below is a list of requirements from DPYH, USA Hockey, and WAHA (Wisconsin Amateur Hockey Association) that need to be completed in order to be a coach with DPYH and rostered on the team with USA Hockey.
Required PRIOR to participation with team (on and off ice) and DUE NO LATER THAN November 30:
- Complete DPYH Coaching Application - (Annual Application)
- Register as a Coach for USA Hockey - (Annual Renewal)
- Complete USA Hockey SafeSport Certification - (Renew/Refresh Every Year)
- Complete USA Hockey Background Screening - (Renew Every Other Year)
Required to be a rostered coach and participate on the bench for games after December 31 and DUE NO LATER THAN December 31:
- Complete USA Hockey Age Specific Module - (Specific to Age Level You Coach)
- Complete USA Hockey Coaching Clinic - (Specific to Your Coaching Certification Level)
Please note, participation as a coach in any DPYH activities, including both on-ice and off-ice events, is contingent upon the timely and complete fulfillment of the above requirements. You cannot participate in any coaching duties until you have met all mandatory requirements as listed above.
Note: Failure to fulfill the requirements identified above may result in a coach not receiving volunteer credits and is up to the discretion of the DPYH board of directors
